Dr. Abhishek Kannan is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and is the team physician for University of Central Florida (UCF) Athletics.
Meet Dr. Abhishek Kannan
Dr. Kannan earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center in Chicago. His fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder surgery was completed at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Kannan uses a patient-specific approach to find the optimal treatment plan, which could range from activity modifications and physical therapy to surgical repair or reconstruction. His decision-making process integrates clinical evaluation, evidence-based treatment protocols and sports-specific rehabilitation to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Dr. Kannan is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
